Infant Massage Classes
Infant Massage is an ancient tradition in many cultures that has been
re-discovered and adapted for parents in the western world. Research has
shown the importance of nurturing touch in the healthy growth and development
of infants and confirmed the many developmental benefits of infant massage.
Both babies and parents benefit by the opportunity to share the bonding
experience of learning infant massage in a class setting.

In 1986 Sarah was certified by the International Association of Infant
Massage Instructors started by Vimala Schneider Mcclure.
In this five session course you will learn the art of infant massage. Each
class is 1 1/2 hours long including massage instruction and time for discussion.
An informal, relaxed atmosphere is maintained so that parents can feel comfortable
caring for their babies needs without concern about missing anything. A
bottle of sweet almond oil and a textbook is provided as well as a variety
of handouts.
What to bring:
Each baby needs a thick towel or blanket to lie on with a waterproof surface
underneath (a large plastic bag or waterproof pad). For newborns you may
prefer to bring a pillow as well to put under the towel for additional padding.
A small hand towel would also be useful for everyone.
Infant Massage has become widely recognized as a powerful means to promote
infant development and attachment with caregivers, while providing numerous
physiological and emotional benefits. You will go away from the course with
a new and wonderful way to connect with your baby and an understanding of
the many benefits of infant massage.
Sarah Brown was certified as an infant massage instructor in 1986 and has
taught small private classes in the Rochester area since then.
